Sad passing of Sid Glick

Maccabi Lawn Bowls Guild is deeply saddened by the loss of life member Sid Glick. Sid’s involvement with the lawn bowls club spans a 40 year period where he was a prominent player and administrator.

As organiser of many of the club’s tournaments and events, Sid performed his duties with a true love of the sport as well as a genuine care for those involved. He was a long serving treasurer who ensured the efficient and sustainable finances of the club. A highlight of his Maccabi involvement was no doubt managerial duties attended to at Maccabiah in Israel.

Sid was a dedicated and exceptional worker over many years for the club which was very much in his heart. As a life-member he was respected and revered by all those who had the pleasure of playing and working with him. His wit and humour provided the perfect balance to his kind and gentle nature. Sid had a sharp eye and was very wise and knowledgeable when it came to the matter of lawn bowls.

As a player Sid was as reliable as they come,  a Lead Bowler who would inevitably set his team off to a positive start. His light hearted jokes and endearing nature made him a true pleasure to play with and against.

Sid’s vibrant and effervescent character will be sorely missed around the greens where his honest and dedicated approach was true respected by one and all.
