Maccabi Athletic Club Members in Action: Running for Magen David Adom

On 15th October, during the Melbourne Half Marathon, three familiar faces associated with the Maccabi Athletics Club were seen making strides for a cause: Jarrod Zuchowski, Brodie Mond, and Jonah Bell.

Jarrod Zuchowski, a 20-year-old Maccabi Athletic Club coach, teamed up with Brodie Mond and Jonah Bell, both of whom have trained with Maccabi in the past. Their collective aim was clear: to raise funds for Magen David Adom (MDA) to help MDA provide critical medical care to those affected by the war.

The trio stated, “Running in Sunday’s Half Marathon to support Magen David Adom was a clear choice for us. Using this platform, we all have an opportunity to make a difference. Even the smallest donation will go a long way.”

In these challenging times, our thoughts and prayers are with our families, friends, the IDF, and the State of Israel. Echoing the sentiments of Am Yisrael Chai, Brodie and Jarrod stress the urgency of supporting Israel now more than ever. They join the wider Jewish community in condemning the terror attacks by Hamas. Recognising MDA’s invaluable role in life-saving interventions and timely medical assistance, they said, “We are certain of Israel’s resilience. We’ve chosen to raise funds to contribute towards the continuous medical care that MDA provides.”

With the backing of the Melbourne Marathon Festival, Brodie and Jarrod, both experienced in half marathons, see this run as a symbol of MDA’s relentless efforts in promoting life. Although they’ve achieved their fundraising goal of $18,000, the drive to gather more support continues.

A noteworthy achievement came from Jarrod Zuchowski, who clinched victory in his age group, finishing an impressive 19th out of 5333 competitors.

To Jarrod, Brodie, and Jonah – Maccabi Athletics Club and its community applaud your dedication and efforts. Keep up the great work!
