Steven Solomon qualifies for World Track and Field championships
17year old Sydney school boy, Steven Solomon, yesterday sensationally won the Australian Open title at the National Track and Field Championships in Melbourne. In doing so, Steven was selected for the World Track and Field Championships to be held in Daegu, South Korea in August this year. Steven also broke a 30year old Australian under 18 record. Placed behind him were Ben Offreins (2010 National Champion,) John Steffenson (former Commonwealth Games Champion) and Sean Wroe (current Commonwealth Games Silver medalist.)
At this stage, these four athletes have been chosen to represent Australia in the 4X400m relay at the world Championships and Steven is the only one so far to have reached the world championships qualifying B-Standard.
