Junior Carnival 2022

Carnival Cancelled

This January 2022, we were looking forward to reminiscing and celebrating 40 years of Junior Carnival. We had a huge week of sport and social activities planned and were excited to help the kids of our Jewish community get active and make new friends through Junior Carnival.
There is nothing we like more at Maccabi than connecting and celebrating together through sport, however protecting our community is our top priority. We would never want to put anyone at risk. We have been monitoring the current COVID situation and rising case numbers closely and exploring all avenues but have determined that the nature of Carnival would make adequate COVID safety measures a challenge.
After many urgent meetings, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Victorian Junior Carnival@Home. We understand that cancelling Carnival is a disappointing outcome, and we trust you understand that this decision was not an easy one for us to make, but was the best and right decision necessary to protect the health and safety of all involved.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing Carnival committee – headed by Lior Rauchberger – for their tireless enthusiasm and commitment.
We look forward with optimism and hope to 2023 as we begin planning the next Junior Carnival, where we can safely bring all our kids together again from across Australia.

Thank you, Carnival Committee

Today would have been our second day of an incredible Junior Carnival. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, our amazing community event was unable to come to fruition.

We are incredibly disappointed for the children of our community who have once again been forced to miss out due to the pandemic.

We wanted to take this time to share some appreciation for the Junior Carnival Committee who worked tirelessly to make the 2022 Junior Carnival one of the best that ever was. Although we will never be able to experience it, we still would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the special people that help bring such an amazing event to our community.

The Junior Carnival Committee was made up of:

Lior Rauchberger
Kate Rauchberger
Jo Star
Martin Jona
Brian Swersky
Ben Grosman
Mark Klapish
Susannah Swiatlo
Rachele Goldenberg
Dana Abukasis
Brett Pack
Jack Stock

We also would like to acknowledge the Youth Volunteers and parents who were going to be volunteering during the week of Carnival, especially Hugo Burstin and Jade Swiatlo who took on the roles of Youth Leader coordinators.

Finally, a big thank you to our Carnival Patron, Sam Parasol and Bendigo Bank Caulfield Park for providing the carnival t-shirts.

A reminder to all those who registered, you can collect your t-shirt from the Maccabi Victoria office on Thursday between 2pm and 4pm.
