Senior Football: Saturday AA2 side for the win!
It was a tough weekend for the Seniors Football Club with only one team – the Saturday AA2 side – picking up any points after beating Lokomotiv 3-1 at our home ground Heffron Synthetic Pitch.
It was a good win after a very close loss the week before to the comp leaders. The match was never in doubt with Maccabi in charge for the full 90 minutes – Oliver Gruia scored twice with Jonathan Solomon scoring the 3rd.
The Over 45 side came crashing back to Earth with a 7- 0 thumping at the hands of Dunbar. A team they had only lost 1-0 to earlier in the season and had not lost since. They went into the match a big chance but a few mistakes in the first half saw them on the backfoot and they never recovered. They did have several players out with injury but they would have expected to do better than the score suggested.
Our AA3 side lost a close one to the Lyons 3-2 with Aaron Kantor scoring both goals while our Jeremy Morgenstern scored the goal in the Division 1 Sunday side’s loss to Dunbar 2-1. The Saturday division 1 side was washed put again.
