Football: Seniors’ tough weekend
Seniors have a tough weekend
First game of the round as for our AA1 Saturday division 1 side who took the lead against Pagewod and then missed a penalty – but looked the better side. However, as the match went on Pagewood gained the upper hand and scored 2 goals leaving the team facing a tough road to the semi-finals now.
Our second match was a win to the AA2 side – two in a row now. They defeated Heffron Hawks 2-1 with goals scored by Jonathan Solomon and Mark Filler. The team has now moved up to 6th only 2 points from 4th.
Our Sunday division 1 side was belted by UNI of NSW after conceding 3 goals in the first 15 minutes they eventually lost 6-1. Whilst it is always difficult at the UNI home ground as it is so small, they were expected to win the match. They are barely holding onto the 4th spot but other teams behind them have games in hand. Our division 3 side also went down to Dunbar 3-0. The only other joy for the Club on the weekend was a 2-2 draw by the Over 45s against Maroubra – again a match they would have expected to win but they have lots of injuries they are nursing leading up to them going to Israel. Their goals were scored by Alistair Jacque and Igor Likhorovitch
