Maccabi Athletics: The Tan Relays
The Tan Relays were held over the weekend of the 17th of September 2022. The Maccabi Women’s Division 5, 3 x 3.87K team of Shanie Landen, Sheree Brown and Ortal Raikhlin were outstanding, finishing 2nd out of the 16 teams – with Ortal closing fast on the winners in the final leg of the relay. The team ran 45min 15sec.
Other notable runs were recorded by 13 year old Shamir Freedman (Glenhuntly) 13min 50sec, and Nick Hershan (SSH) 12m 30sec.
Despite the wet and wild weather on Sunday 18th of September 2022, the Athletics Club had a strong turn out at training. The club is developing a fine squad of under 16 male and female athletes.
It is also wonderful to have nationally ranked shot putter, Shane Carstairs, coaching and mentoring young club state ranked shot putter, Ian Revale.
The 2022/23 summer AV State League track & field calendar is now available on the AV website. The State League competition runs for 10 rounds plus, through to 25th March 2023.

- Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships (October 29-30th and November 5-6th)
- Thursday 17th November the Victorian 5K Championships
- Saturday 26th November the Victorian Track Relay Championships
- December 9th -11th Australian All Schools Championships in Adelaide
- Thursday 15th December the Zatopek 10K
