The AJAX Senior Football Club has made history electing Alida Lipton as the first female President at the recent AGM. A Committee member for the past 3 years (1 year as Vice President) she shared her vision for the Club at the recent AGM.
Alida’s experience on the Committee has shown her dedication & commitment to the Club. Bringing an administrative background as well as previous experience with Maccabi AJAX Swimming Club, international experience managing teams at 3 Maccabiah Games, she is a Community and Maccabi supporter to her core, believing that all Jewish athletes should have the opportunity to play sport together and represent our community with pride.
Alida thanked outgoing President Ronnie Lewis, the longest serving Club President (9 years) for his tireless and incredible tenure who’s achievements include: launching the Jackettes, All Abilities team and overseeing the Capital Building DCR Club Rooms, ensuring the Club is culturally thriving as well as being competitive moving forward.
Ronnie said: “Whilst I am sad to step off the Committee and my responsibilities with the Club which have been a huge part of my life, I will always be here supporting our players and Club. I am very proud of what I have achieved together with the many people I have worked with over the past 9+ years”.
Alida commented: “I am looking forward to this new phase at the Club. We have new rooms, new Head Coach, New Major Club Sponsor (Gary Peer & Associates), newly formed Committee (combined with existing members) and we have a vision to make this great Club even greater. Already implementing programs such as inviting junior players (from Jolson Team) to pre season training, we aim to increase our player base through targeted recruitment to all Jewish players, men & women, increase growth of women in football, increase social hub of the Club, providing the best quality Coaching, strength & conditioning staff and making B Grade Finals in 2023!”
Club Vice President, Craig Joel commented: “Ronnie has been an outstanding leader of our club over the past nine years and his long list of achievements are instrumental in ensuring the Club is in the great position it is in today. We will miss Ronnies’ infectious energy and enthusiasm. His contribution to our great club will be long lasting and he should be very proud of the legacy he leaves behind”.
Welcome two newly appointed Committee members Simon Donath and David Israel who bring experience as well as a fresh approach to the Club.
