Table Tennis Season 3

The Table Tennis Victoria Pennant Season 3 at MSAC is coming to an end. Maccabi has 2 teams being represented in the finals. The Grand Finals will be played at MSAC on Wednesday 21 December @7:30pm for anyone interested in attending and supporting the teams.

The Division 3 team Maccabi Nets of Rohan Woolf, Mark Levin & Andrew Shostak finished the home and away season 3rd on the ladder. The Maccabi Nets came up against the 2nd placed St.Kilda TTC in the Semi-Final. St.Kilda TTC were on top of the ladder all season until they lost the last game of the season. Rohan Woolf won all his 3 matches and the Maccabi Nets were leading 4 matches to 3. Mark Levin then came up against the 3rd ranked player in the league, after winning the opening match of the night. The St.Kilda TTC player won the first 2 sets and was leading 5-2 in the 5th set, before Mark won 8 points in a row and then closed out the game to win in 5 sets and give Maccabi the overall win. The Maccabi Nets will now play Melbourne Uni in the Grand Final. It will be a rematch of last season’s Grand Final where Maccabi fought hard but were unable to defeat the best team in the competition.

Rohan Woolf had a 23 game winning streak this season and won the leading player of the Division with a 23-1 record which is an amazing effort and great for Maccabi Table Tennis.

The other Maccabi team in the Grand FInal is the Division 5 team Maccabi Bucks who have been the best team all season and on top of the ladder. Boris Bird, Les Lesman and John Cukier take up 3 of the top 4 players of the Division. Boris Bird won the leading player with a 25-2 record.

2023 will be a huge year for Maccabi Table Tennis with Junior Carnival, an improved Junior Program and a new format for the Table Tennis Victoria Pennant. We will continue to play on Monday and Thursday evenings at Phoenix Park in Malvern East, which includes coaching, competition and social play.
