FOUR Maccabi Athletics Club athletes competed at last weekend’s 2023 Victorian Under Age (U13-U18) Track and Field Championships at Lakeside.

U17 boys’ shot put athlete Ian Revale heaved the 5kg shot a whopping 11.99 metres to earn a bronze medal.

That result qualified him to compete in the Under Age nationals from April 13-16 in Brisbane.

Skye Edelstein placed fourth in a close U18 girls’ 400m final in a time of 61.72 seconds, and also ran well in the 200m, as did Keira Donner in the U16 girls’ 200m and 100m events, setting a PB of 13.89 seconds in the latter.

Ben Blecher, who has already qualified for the nationals, came fifth in the U16 boys’ 200m final, after just missing out on making the 400m final.

Next weekend, Lakeside hosts the 2023 U20 and Open Victorian Track and Field Championships.

Maccabi will be represented in that competition by current members Emma de Jong in three events, Ori Drabkin in three events, and Shanie Landen in one event.

And club life member, Olympian Jemima Montag, will also be competing, in the women’s 5km race walk.
