Mummy Bees Kick off their Season with a Win

The Maccabi FC Soccer Mums program has experienced tremendous growth in a short amount of time, leading to the formation of their very own competitive team, under the guidance of Coach Sarah. With some mothers looking to keep things casual and others eager to embrace the competitive spirit, Maccabi FC is committed to accommodating the desires of both groups.

On April 30th, history was made as Maccabi’s Mummy Bees competed in their first-ever match against the South Melbourne Soccer Mums at Princes Park in Bambra Road. The Mummy Bees started strong, scoring two goals within the first five minutes. South Melbourne managed to close the gap with a goal just before half-time, but Coach Sarah’s motivational half-time speech helped the Mummy Bees secure another goal shortly after the break.

As the match neared its end, South Melbourne scored again, but Maccabi held on to their lead, concluding the game with a thrilling 3-2 victory for the Mummy Bees. The excitement of the mothers and their supporters was palpable, and it’s truly remarkable to see how far the program has come in just six weeks.

The match also offered a delightful change of pace, with children and fathers cheering on the mothers from the sidelines, swapping their usual roles. There were some very vocal young critics from the sidelines too.

With this impressive debut, the Mummy Bees have set the bar high. We encourage more mothers to join the social program and experience the joy of playing the beautiful game. Here’s to the continued success of the Maccabi Mummy Bees!
