Junior Athletics- Super results at school rep meets

THERE were excellent results by many young Sydney Jewish athletes at recent school representative level meets. Zac Urbach represented Emanuel School at the CDSSA high school athletics championships, coming first in the 18/19 boys’ 100m and 200m sprints, and was part of Emanuel’s open boys’ 4x100m relay team with Aden Goodridge, Shai Farhy and Jett Sher who won gold and broke a 20-year meet record. Emanuel’s open girls’ relay team of Ashley Urbach, Amelie Trope, Mariah Lewy and Eden Levit also won gold. They have all qualified for the NSW CIS high school athletics championships on September 19, as well as several student athletes from other Jewish schools, including Moriah College’s Tali Baltineshter – who recently broke the AICES girls’ javelin record with a throw of 47.88 metres – and sprinter Joseph Rabinowitz, also from Moriah. Still at the CDSSA meet, two Kesser Torah College (KTC) students won gold – Kovi Kluwgant was first in the U16 boys’ long jump, and Tzvi Bloom won the U14 boys’ shot put. Zac Urbach also represented CDSSA at the AICES championships, where he won the 100m in 11.26 seconds, and the 200m in 22.69 seconds, breaking records for both that had been in place for 10 years. And primary school students from Moriah, Emanuel, KTC and Mount Sinai College (MSC) all did themselves proud with great results at the ASISSA athletics carnival. While MSC only had a team of six, each team member won at least one medal. In U11 girls’, Zali Judd came first in the shot put and second in the discus; Ben Blackstone won gold in the U9 boys’ 100m and silver in the U10 boys’ 200m; Kian Ottaviano was the 12-13 boys’ high jump winner; Patrick Lamb came first in the 11 boys’ discus; Amy Bergheim won bronze in the 12-13 girls’ long jump; and Mason Blackstone placed third in the U11 boys’ 100m.
