Maccabi U14 Hawks head to the 2022 Season Grand Final

The Maccabi U14 Hawks head to the 2022 Season Grand Final as clear priced favourites after finishing the season, 13 points ahead of the opposition, despite playing one less game.

They started their match firing on all cylinders going onto the attack from the opening whistle.  An impressive well-placed cross from Ben Palmer allowed Zac Strasser to score an early goal.

The team stayed on the attack for the remainder of the first half, but were unable to find the net, and so went to the break with a 1-0 lead.

At the start of the second half, the boys once again dominated in the front, staying on the attack, but unfortunately a big kick from the Dunbar goalkeeper, set up a break away, enabling the opposition to equalise.

Despite best efforts in both attack and defense, Dunbar managed to break through for another goal – scoring at the top of the net, just outside the reach of the goalkeeper’s fingertips.

With only minutes to go, Maccabi tried valiantly to find the net again but unfortunately were not successful – ending the game in a 1-2 loss.

Although we were obviously disappointed to go down at the final hurdle, our incredible victories throughout the season, resulted in us winning the 2022 Premier trophy and enabling us to qualify for a spot in the FNSW Champion of Champions tournament.

15s div 1

U15 Hawks went down 2-1 in a cracking grand final to Dunbar Rovers.

Dunbar scored early and dominated the early exchanges but the Maccabi boys fought back with an excellent goal to Kovi New to equalise at 1-1. The boys dominated the next 15 minutes and created some fantastic chances but couldn’t convert. Unfortunately, it was the same story in the second half, despite dominating much of the play their keeper didn’t need to make a save and at the final whistle the score remained 2-1.

Special mention to David Feller who was outstanding not just in the Grand Final but was the most outstanding player across the whole competition.

A great season for a great group of boys and the Champion of Champions Tournament still to go.

U17 02 played Glebe

Maccabi were dominating from the get go with numerous opportunities and close calls.

Teva Porat scores a volley in the middle of the first half. By half time, the score card was at 1-0 in favor of Maccabi. Our team continued to dominate the second half.

Glebe equalises on the 85th minute. There were no goals scored at extra time despite Glebe with 10 players for 10 mins re sin bin and yellow card. It was a tie at the end of extra time.

Penalties were imposed with Maccabi missing first two pens and Glebe missing the last two pens. 4:4 at and of pens.

At golden goal, Glebe’s goalie saves Maccabi’s pen and Glebe scores their pen to win the game.

G17 winners 2-1

The G17 team had a solid 2-1 victory against Mascot after finishing the season on top of the ladder in division 2. The girls were in control all through the game and never looked like losing with goals scored by Natasha Sperber and Olivia Murray

U15 div 2

The U15 side played Pagewood and were right in the match for 89 minutes conceding the only goal of the game in the 90^th minute.

U18s

The U18 side were our last hope for a boys Grand Final win and they didn’t disappoint. The score was 1-1 at full time and still 1-1 after extra time meaning it would be decided by the dreaded penalty shoot out. Luckily our boys prevailed to win 5-4 on penalties. They were also Minor Premiers and all credit goes to these kids as they coached themselves all year.
