JUDO – Medal wins nationals

TWO Jewish athletes won medals at the 2023 Australian Judo Championships in the Gold Coast. UNSW rep Elijah Raif (pictured) won silvers in the U18 and U21 men’s 66kg competitions, and placed fifth in open men’s. Having moved up a division last year, Raif said he feels proud to be a medal winner, “knowing that my hard work and effort has paid off”. Melburnian Yonatan Ayzelman shone in the U55kg cadets category, winning gold, but bowed out in the repechage final in U60kg junior men’s. Credit AJN
