Maccabi Hockey Opening Week Highlights: Aufgang Shines, Women Hit Back Hard
Maccabi Hockey Club Kicks Off 2025 Season with Mixed Results
Maccabi Hockey Club’s 2025 campaign is underway, with all three senior teams hitting the pitch last week in their opening Hockey Victoria fixtures.
The Men’s Metro 2 East side made a strong statement in round one, dominating Old Xaverians 7-0 at Elwood. Lior Aufgang netted twice, with Jeremy Bendel and Joseph Brasacchio also getting on the scoreboard. Phillip Koch played a key role in what was a commanding team performance.
It was a tougher start for the Men’s Vic League 3 team, who faced a sharp La Trobe side and went down 0-8. The Women’s Metro 1 East team also fell short in their opener, losing 0-3 to Old Xaverians.
But the women bounced back quickly, securing a solid 4-1 away win over KBH Brumbies just three days later. A clinical first quarter saw them take a 3-0 lead early, setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Plenty of positives to build on as the season unfolds.
