3 Generations at Maccabi Ajax Cricket

Last Sunday, four members of the Kave family, spanning three generations, played for Maccabi AJAX Cricket Club (MACC) on the same day.

The youngest, Hayden, played junior cricket, while his older brother Asher, the brothers’ father Daniel, and their grandfather Barry, all featured in the club’s men’s Mercantile Cricket Association C south side, which faced the Melbourne Strikers in round 10.

Despite a 15-run loss, Asher had excellent bowling figures of 3/18, Barry was accurate with 0/13, while batter Daniel scored 14 runs.

MACC’s two men’s teams in the Melbourne Cricket Club’s Club XI both posted wins in round 7 last Sunday, to remain in top spot in divisions 2 and 4.

First XI batter Benji Jones scored 58 not out in a 7-wicket win over Old Scotch in division 2, while bowlers Josh Jones, Josh Rotstein and Gilad Lowinger claimed 3 wickets each.

In a 3-wicket win over Old Camberwell in division 4, MACC’s Simon Fisher took 4/14, and Hayden Goldberg was unbeaten on 42 runs.
