Building Skills, Confidence, and a Love for Basketball: The Maccabi Basketball Mini Skills Program
Basketball is more than a sport—it’s a pathway to growth, confidence, and lifelong friendships. The Maccabi Basketball Mini Skills Program sets the foundation for children aged 5–7, introducing them to the game in a fun, supportive environment.
Held every Thursday at 5 PM at Orrong Romanis, these weekly 45-minute sessions focus on fundamental basketball skills, including key terms and court positions. Through interactive activities rather than traditional drills, children are encouraged to develop their abilities while nurturing a genuine love for the game.
A Program Designed for Growth
The program goes beyond teaching basketball techniques. Each session is carefully structured to introduce a key objective in a way that engages and excites participants. The activities are designed to build teamwork, social skills, and physical fitness, fostering an environment where children gain confidence and enjoy themselves.
“Seeing the children celebrate each other’s achievements on the court is inspiring,” says a Maccabi Basketball coach. “The Mini Skills Program isn’t just about learning to play basketball—it’s about growing as individuals and building friendships that last long after the game.”
Parents are encouraged to watch the sessions, creating a supportive atmosphere for families to share in their child’s progress and enthusiasm.
Preparing for the Next Step
The Mini Skills Program is an ideal pathway for children transitioning into competitive basketball. It prepares participants for Under 8 domestic competition, helping them gain the confidence and skills to take on weekly games. By the end of the program, children are ready to step onto the court as part of a team.
