VIC AJAX Amateur Football
The AJAX Football Club is notable as Australia’s first and only fully Jewish Club competing in the sport of Australian Rules Football. The club is located in Melbourne, Australia and was first established by the Melbourne Jewish community in 1957.
The Senior Club fields 5 open-age teams, Seniors, Development, Thirds (Sunday), Jackettes (women’s), U19’s in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) and the full range of junior under-age (U9s to U17s) teams in the local district Southern Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL).
MISSION: To provide all members of the AJAX Football Club with a competitive game of Aussie Rules Football, whilst making a meaningful contribution to the local Jewish Community and always striving to play at the highest possible level.
AIMS: AJAX to be a successful and respected club within the VAFA maintaining at all times our Jewish identity. AJAX shall strive to achieve the most successful on-field team performances at all levels whilst maintaining its unique Jewish identity. AJAX will participate in an enjoyable and supportive social atmosphere amongst our participating football teams, supporters, followers and families. The Club will be a platform for a Jewish social environment. AJAX will assist in the development and improvement of its members, not only by requiring and facilitating the highest standard of physical fitness and skills associated with Australian Rules Football-but also general aspects of life and community to further their careers.
