NSW Tenpin: Results of the NSW Jewish Open Tournaments at Manhattan Bowl – 1 August 2022

The NSW Jewish Open for 2022 took place at Manhattan Superbowl and 28 bowlers participated across the Handicap and Scratch divisions. Big thanks to Manhattan for hosting a great event that has been running for almost 60 years.

In the handicap division Naomi Baram dominated the field to top the standings after 6 games with 1366, bowling all 6 games over average. Howard Baram after a slow start came back with a fantastic run of 244, 224 and 201 to push him into second place on 1316. Sylvia Walters also came home very strong in the last two games of qualifying to jump into 3rd with an even 1300.

In the finals Sylvia and Howard bowled a very close game which went right down to the wire and it was Sylvia that came away with the win 211-206 on handicap. Sylvia then went onto the final against Naomi, and Naomi proved to be too good coming up with clutch frames at the end to win 212-183.

In the scratch division, Adam Goldberg picked up where he left off last year topping the division with a 1287 (214.5 avg) with some nice games of 200, 226, 239 & the nights top game of 257. Ronnie Lang was a model of consistency bowling 1232 (205.3 avg) with a low game of 190 and a high game of 226 with a 211 and a pair of 203s in there as well for good measure. Justin Kennedy after a slow start came home strong to get into 3rd with a pair of 190s and 2 nice games of 236 & 248.

In the finals Ronnie proved too good for Justin winning 214-180. Ronnie bowling 5/6 strikes from frames 4 to 9 whilst splits from Justin proved to be his undoing. In the final match Ronnie once again showed his consistency to take out the match with a clean game of 216 to Adam’s 170. A big congratulations to Ronnie and Naomi and to all the finalists on a great performance.
