Maccabi goes well at Metsea

CONSIDERING Maccabi NSW Swimming Club entered a relatively young squad into last week’s 2022 Metsea (Metro South East Sydney) Summer Swimming Championships, it achieved some terrific results, and plenty of PBs by its swimmers.

Standout performers were Awen Hiroti (11 girls’ 50 freestyle) and Nicholas Fasol (10 boys’ 50 freestyle), who both won bronze medals in their events.

Hiroti also qualified for next month’s Junior Metropolitan Championships in three events (50 free, 50 breaststroke, and 50 backstroke).

Fasol qualified for the 50 and 100 free, and the 50 butterfly and backstroke.

The team’s toughest trainer, Samuel Mervis, missed out on medals in his 13 boys’ events at the Metsea championships, but still posted very impressive PB times in the 50 free and butterfly, and the 100 free.
