We are excited to share a recap of the recent Maccabi Golf Club’s inaugural event at Moonah on the weekend of the 17th of June 2023. It was a weekend filled with fun, challenging golf, and a display of incredible talent, despite the unpredictable weather conditions.
The event kicked off on a cool and windy Saturday. The open course, known for its demanding nature, certainly proved to be a worthy adversary. In fact, the course emerged as the ultimate winner when it came to the scoring. It provided our golfers with an opportunity to test their mettle, demanding high levels of precision and skill.
The action continued on Sunday on the Legends course. Though the wind was still present, the forecasted rain graciously held off, leading to improved scoring from our players. This allowed our golfers to truly showcase their abilities, without the added challenge of adverse weather conditions.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of our young prodigy, Zac Wolfe. Despite being only 7 years old, Zac has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the course. He is the current world champion and a dual Australian champion in his age category, an achievement that speaks volumes about his talent and dedication. Despite playing off men’s tees, Zac performed remarkably well, finishing among the top few of the day.
We also celebrated the return of Ian Bejer, who, after a prolonged absence, made a triumphant comeback at the Moonah event. Ian stormed home and took out the top spot, reminding us all of his immense talent and skill on the golf course.
Special mentions go out to Allen Garb, Ron Bierenkrant, and Tim Katzen, who performed well throughout the event, demonstrating their consistency and determination despite challenging conditions.
The inaugural Moonah event was a testament to the spirit of Maccabi Golf Club, where players of all ages and skills come together to celebrate their love for the game. We thank all the participants for making this event a success and look forward to more such exhilarating golfing events in the future.
Until then, keep swinging!
