Maccabi Victoria Table Tennis Finals
Posted on by Maccabi VIC
The Maccabi Division 1 team of David Segal and Brian Tesler were undefeated all season and entered the Grand Final as hot favourites. Brian lost the first rubber, David won his match and then Maccabi lost the doubles. Maccabi were down 2-1 with David Segal the leading player for the Division playing against his arch rival. David was down 2 championship points but somehow managed to pull off an incredible victory 13-11 in the last set. It was now 2-2 in matches with Brian Tesler playing a higher rated player to win the whole Division. Brian played the best match of his career to win the match and the whole Division for Maccabi.
The Maccabi Division 3 team of Dean Frankel, Mark Levin and Darren Breitenfeld somehow managed to pull off the impossible and make the Division 3 Grand Final. The team was bottom of the ladder with 5 rounds remaining and won every match to make the Semi-Finals. In the Semi Final, all 3 players played exceptionally well and won against a higher ranked opponent 5-0. In the Grand Final, Maccabi played the top ranked team all season and the task was too much with Maccabi losing 5-1. Overall an outstanding effort to reach the Grand Final and come runners up.
