Big V basketball season starts

The Maccabi Warriors have had a bright beginning to the 2026 Big V men’s youth league 3 basketball season, winning their first round match against Southern Peninsula 83-77 in front of an appreciative home crowd at Bialik College on March 15.
Although the final winning margin was just six points, the Warriors led in each quarter, and as much as by 11 points at the start of the fourth quarter, before taking their foot slightly off the accelerator.
The former was strong in defence all game and made two big blocks, while the latter top-scored with 26 points, closely followed by Liad Kagan (20 points) and Adam Shuster (16 points).
Nathan Cohen was impactful in his 29 minutes on court, scoring six points and making two steals, two assists and seven rebounds.
Maccabi will travel to Hawthorn this Saturday.
