Maccabi FC Caulfield’s Unforgettable Day with The Block and Matildas
In June, Maccabi FC Caulfield – our fantastic junior football (soccer) club, hosted a once-in-a-lifetime event that combined the excitement of football with the glamour of television. The club had the unique opportunity to be part of an episode of “The Block,” featuring special appearances by Matildas stars Elise Kellond-Knight and Chloe Logarzo.
On the morning of the event, Maccabi FC Caulfield was abuzz with activity as fans, players, and club members prepared to welcome participants from “The Block” and the celebrated Matildas players. The highlight was a penalty shoot-out involving “The Block” contestants, under the watchful eyes of Kellond-Knight and Logarzo. The presence of these soccer stars was a significant moment for the club, especially for the young players who look up to the Matildas as role models and have even named their teams after them!
The interaction between the Matildas players and the club members was a testament to the power of sports in bringing people together. Kellond-Knight and Logarzo engaged with the fans, shared their experiences, and took the time to sign autographs, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.
A special moment came when Presenter, Scott Cam from “The Block” announced a surprise donation of $5,000 to Maccabi FC Caulfield. This generous gift, supported by the Commonwealth Bank, highlighted the importance of grassroots sports and the role of community clubs in fostering young talent.
Maccabi FC Caulfield extends its gratitude to all who contributed to making this event a success: the Commonwealth Bank, Channel 9, “The Block” crew, Josephine La Pila (FV/FA), Michelle Dubrowin, Andrew Yarrow, Martin Jona, and the fans who made the day special. Events like this underscore the vibrant spirit of our clubs and their role in the community.
To relive the excitement, be sure to watch episode 41 of “The Block.” It’s a great way to see Maccabi FC Caulfield in action and to celebrate a day that will be fondly remembered by all who were part of it.
