Maccabi Junior Carnival Is HERE!

The 42nd Maccabi National Junior Sports Carnival, Carni24, is off to a fantastic start, and we’re here to bring you the highlights!

Yesterday our Team VIC athletes made a striking entrance at Melbourne Airport, donned in blue and white, ready to take on Carni24 in Sydney.

Rod Rosmarin, the newly-appointed President of Maccabi Australia, welcomed everyone with a spirited speech. His personal anecdotes and humour were well received by the 400 young athletes. He reminded us of Maccabi’s core values: community, friendship, and the spirit of competition #MaccabiProud.

The opening ceremony was nothing short of spectacular, featuring Brazilian drums and dancing, music, games, inflatables and good food (not to forget the fan favourite, fairy floss!). It was a perfect blend of sportsmanship and celebration, setting a high bar for the rest of Carnival.

One of the highlights of Carni is the incredible opportunity for athletes to meet peers from different states, fostering a sense of national community. And last night proved just that with participants mingling, sharing stories, and forming new friendships that will undoubtedly last beyond Carnival.

A big thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, parents, host families, and the tireless Carni committee members for making this event possible and fantastic.

With numerous sports events, social gatherings, and cultural exchanges lined up, Carni24 promises to be an unforgettable experience.

To all our Carni Kids: best of luck in your games, and remember, it’s all about having a great time and making memories!
