A Stellar Start to the Year: Maccabi Golf Club’s Kleid Gordon Event

This past weekend, the Maccabi Victoria Golf Club kicked off its annual calendar of events with the much-anticipated Kleid Gordon tournament, marking an exceptional start to the year. Despite the challenge of hot and windy conditions, the event saw a full field, showcasing both returning members and welcoming new faces to the fold.
The venue for this year’s opener, Cranbourne, received universal praise for its impeccable condition, proving to be a formidable yet fair test for our golfers. Out of a strong field of 70 competitors, only four managed to play to or beat their handicap, underscoring the challenging conditions and the high level of competition.
The overall winner of the Kleid Gordon trophy was Nicole Musiker, whose score of 38 not only led the women’s division but also earned her the top honour of the event – a huge Mazal Tov to Nicole on this fantastic achievement! Joe Dorfman and Earle Sacher’s close competition, each with a score of 37, was resolved on a countback, showcasing the high caliber of play and competitive spirit within our club.
In the men’s division, the competition was fierce. A Grade saw Joe Dorfman clinch victory with an impressive score of 37, narrowly edging out newcomer Joe Lewis from the UK, who finished with a score of 35. B Grade was won by Richard Lew, who scored 35, with Jonathan Ivanyi coming in second with 32. C Grade featured Earle Sacher taking the top spot with a score of 37, followed by David Goldberg with 33.
The women’s competition was equally competitive, with Nicole Musiker leading the pack with an outstanding score of 38, followed closely by Jenny Gorog with 36. A special mention goes to our youngest competitor, 7-year-old Daphne Lewis, who showed remarkable skill and composure to score 34, placing her third in the women’s division.
As we reflect on this weekend’s success, we are filled with anticipation for our next event, the three-day Kirzner Silberscher Shield, taking place from April 5-7 at Moonah Links. We invite all our members and interested newcomers to join us for what promises to be another exciting competition.
