Maccabi Basketball Heat in red hot form
MAZAL tov to the Maccabi Heat team (pictured), who claimed the City of Sydney Basketball Association’s 2024 season one men’s division 2 title earlier this month, with a 55-39 grand final win.
Josh Aronson and Aiden Forman were the top point-scorers, in what was an excellent team effort. Aronson was named the team’s MVP of the season. The Heat have been promoted to division 1 as a result, joining two other Maccabi teams, the Kings and Warriors, for season two. The Heat adjusted to the higher division well, winning their opening two games, including a 57-42 win on May 20 over the South Sydney Spartans, in which Aronson scored 16 points and Sam Wein 12. In the men’s premier league, the Maccabi Lakers, who struggled in season one, impressed on Monday night with an 80-70 round two victory against the Camperdown Boosters. The Lakers’ Marcel Ninio scored 24 points and Jake Sharwood chipped in with 19. Source AJN
