Life Membership Honours at Maccabi Ajax Lawn Bowls
L-R: Maccabi Ajax Lawn Bowls President, Gary Lasky and longstanding committee member, Nathan Simon receive Life Membership
The Maccabi Ajax Lawn Bowls Club (MALB) held its Annual General Meeting on 7 May 2025, marking a significant occasion with the induction of two esteemed members as Life Members: Nathan Simon and Gary Lasky.
Nathan Simon – Life Member
Nathan Simon has been a dedicated member of MALB for over 13 years, serving on the committee and contributing significantly to the club’s activities. Despite his demanding role as Chairman of Selectors at Armadale Bowls Club, Nathan consistently volunteers his time to support MALB’s major events, including the annual Shule Day, Jewish Championships, All Abilities Day, and various carnivals. During challenging periods for the club, Nathan stood by the leadership, particularly supporting Gary Lasky in organising key functions and the successful 50th Anniversary celebration.
Gary Lasky – Life Member
Gary Lasky has been at the helm of MALB as President since 2017, following a year as Vice President, and has played a central role in keeping the club active and connected. His steady leadership has seen the club through key milestones, including organising a successful 50th anniversary lunch, convening the last four Shule Days and a twilight Shule tournament, and leading the Interstate Bowls Carnival on the Gold Coast three times. Beyond the club, Gary is a respected coach, player, and umpire. In 2022, he was awarded the Gallagher Community Coach of the Year at the Victorian Sport Awards for his efforts in training over 50 coaches and introducing more than 100 students to bowls through the Rookie Rollers program. His leadership and perseverance have been vital to MALB’s continued existence and community spirit.
The club extends its heartfelt congratulations to Nathan Simon and Gary Lasky on their well-deserved Life Memberships, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and service to the Maccabi Ajax Lawn Bowls community
