Last Sunday was a bright day for AJAX Football Club, with big VAFA round 10 away wins posted by the men’s thirds teams in premier and fifth divisions.
The wins lifted them to equal fourth on competition points and equal second on their respective ladders.

In premier thirds, the Jackas welcomed back Jeremy Herz and Kivi Franks from injury layoffs, in a 20.9 (129) to 9.7 (61) victory over second-placed Old Xaverians 2 at Plunkett Oval. The Zev Aron captained side won each quarter convincingly, applying intense backline strength and relentless midfield pressure, to control the corridor, setting up their forwards, who kicked 20 goals. Amir Meyerowitz was named Best on Ground after kicking seven goals and Joel Parasol booted four. This Sunday, they will host first placed Old Xaverians 1, at Gary Smorgon Oval from 12.40pm.

AJAX’s thirds division 5 side, captained by Moshe Rosenbaum, earned their sixth straight win when thumping South Melbourne 12.17 (89) to 5.4 (34).
The damage was done by the Jackas in the second quarter, in which they scored 34 points and only conceded a behind.
Zac Smolarksi earned Best on Ground honours, tackling hard and consistently winning contests.

Last Saturday saw heavy losses for AJAX in Premier C reserves and in thirds division 2, and a top-quality Premier C seniors away-from-home clash against fellow top four team Beaumaris, which AJAX lost 12.9 (81) to 13.13 (91).
The senior Jackas trailed by 26-61 at half-time, but fought back to trail by just 10 points at three-quarter time and ultimately lost by that margin.
Aaron Bryer was among their best, Jonty Israel top-scored with three goals and two goals each were scored by Cobi Chrapot and Adam Caplan, who played his 200th game.
