NSW Lawn Bowls Guild

Maccabi Lawn Bowls was formed on 25th August 1993 as NSW Maccabi Lawn Bowls Guild Incorporated. In line with a directive from Maccabi Australia, the Club changed its name to Maccabi NSW Lawn Bowls Guild Incorporated on 1st March 2007.

We endeavour to make contact with all known Jewish bowlers in various Bowling Clubs in Sydney and encourage them to join Maccabi NSW Lawn Bowls Club.

We are a vibrant club with 148 men and women bowlers using the facilities at Double Bay Bowling Club (DBBC).

Our club organises bowling tournaments and social functions on a regular basis. A major event that we participate in and organise on a triennial basis is the annual Maccabi Bowling Carnival, which usually takes place at a bowling club on the Gold Coast. Jewish bowlers from Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Queensland join together at the Gold Coast Carnival for 5 days of wonderful bowling, socialising  and organised dinners. We usually attract over 80 bowlers to this event and of course their non-playing partners are very welcome to be part of our socialising and dinners.

Throughout the year, we host various tournaments at DBBC and – if time permits – arrange to play against other bowling clubs. We also host social events like film evenings, Trivia night, and various dinners.

In addition, we financially assist selected NSW bowlers selected for the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Maccabi NSW Lawn Bowls Guild has been very fortunate in having Committee members who have served our club over many years.

We recognise their outstanding service to our club by bestowing Honorary Life Membership. This includes Shmuel Abrahams, Sidney Glick, Alan Rosenberg and Louis Platus.

Our major sponsors are Brampton Finance and Shoelife.com
